Newbie's Guide to Web Design

HTML Lesson 10

Multipule Page Web Sites

If you have surfed the internet then you have definitely seen more than one page on a web site, well you know that a business can't run with one page, well yes they could but they would not be maximizing there asset's.

Just about any site today has several pages explaining such things from about us page to online ordering of there products. You can add a page for just about anything nowadays. Well lets add some new pages to your site and make it a little more user friendly.

First thing open up a note pad document and enter the tags you'll need to get started. Now that you have all the tags lets create a hyperlink from your home page to a sub page let's call it About Us. First type in the body <a href="file:///C:/My Documents/aboutus.html>About Us<a>.

Now you must open another notepad doc and enter all the html tags then in the body type anything such as Welcome to My About Page then save your page. Then load your first page in the browser and click the About Us link you created. Example:

<html>

<head>

</head>

</body>

<a href="file:///C:/My Documents/aboutus.html">About Us</a>

<p>

</body>

</html>

Now you see how easy it is to create more pages to add to your site, well lets look at opening the page in a new window. Ok type this in your body below the previous tag line <a href="file:///C:/My Documents/aboutus.html taget="_new"></a>.

Now when that link is clicked it will open your about page in a new window on top on the existing one. Great next we will finish up with createing and designing a compleate web site with Tables, Alignment, Colors, Hyperlinks, and Sub-pages. .
