Newbie's Guide to Web Design

HTML Lesson 11b

Creating hyperlinks to a new page within your site.

The thing you need to know here is that when you are creating a web site offline (not on the Internet) you have to use different tags for your hyperlinks.

When you are surfing the net the links used are typically in a http://www format and when you're offline the link tags look like file:/// this tell the browser to look on the local computer for the requested file. So here is how you create the tags.

<a href="file:///c:/my documents/html tests/contactus.php3">Contact Us</a>

All your links should look like this but, your file location might not be my documents it is the location where you saved your files too. So now you should better understand the links so go-ahead and finish the rest of them. Back to Lesson 11.
